rachel cason Anthony, Founder
Rachel created The Playground with the hopes of closing the opportunity gap and empowering children to unlock the skills they need to reach their full potential. After graduating from The College of William & Mary in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Public Health, she served as a 2014 Teach For America Corps Member in Eastern North Carolina where she began her career as a Special Education Teacher. Upon completing the corps, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she has served as an Elementary Special Education Teacher since 2016.
In November 2018 she started Black Boys Reading, an initiative designed to promote positive images of African American males, and cultivate a love for reading. Through this initiative she served students in the Metro Atlanta area as a private tutor, a book club facilitator, and a consultant to parents. In September 2019 she decided to broaden her impact by founding The Playground Multisensory Learning Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging all children in meaningful learning experiences, and empowering parents, educators, and community members with the skillset to provide multisensory instruction.
In May 2020 Rachel graduated from Georgia State University with a Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Behavior and Learning Disabilities. She believes that all children can learn and that all children deserve access to quality instruction that is tailored to their specific needs.
